News via http://www.ds-scene.net/?s=viewtopic&nid=9226

The changes are based on mp3 sound quality and it’s stated you only really need to update if you listen with headphones, you probably wont be able to tell the difference otherwise. The archive includes binary only, it’s not a full package release so just use the included .nds to overwrite the one that you installed to your card with the 2.10 full package.

Google Translated README
This update package is package just for better sound quality. ROMEO2 update is not required when using the original sound so good.
The sound quality is like a better error. It is really subtle differences. But we should anticipate excessive.

How to update: MoonShellVer2.10stable MicroSD is installed please copy over.
Overwrite other files (such as skin files and configuration files) can take it all is.

How to check the version: In the file list, press the START button, the first line of the screen under "for child" has been updated correctly if it is written.

Application: 32768Hz to 44100Hz have effect only with 48000Hz. Almost all the mp3 files are in this one, and there is no effect at all music files. (22050Hz Originally okay)

Note: The rate of increase is much heavier sound like errors. And listen to music while you open the image, M4A/AAC/WMA to play heavier music, such as data, such as how it would be nearly impossible. (Probably sounds Bishi Makurimasu)
Also, changes may have gone to an ad hoc basis for it was scheduled in his unpublished. The touch panel screen saver is running, results are likely to truly bad people ….

If you are used to the child who often use earphones in particular Please update.
(But still cheap enough to equal the sound of MP3 players now, but I get, the more he assured me that hurt your ears listen to the sound I think as much as possible.)
If you listen to the original DS built-in speakers and we are not affected, it would not have to worry since away from the ear.

I managed to get the DateTime so slow.
Splash.ani when there is no stopping the bug was fixed.
LPF/15kHz was added. (44kHz and 48kHz)
Added a dithering quantization error.
Add a noise gate.
You add the exact volume curve.
The file list screen saver is running, the touch panel of the same PhoneSwitch.
The vertically and horizontally music player R Button + Bass / Treble Equalizer adjustment added. (32768/44100/48000Hz only)

News via http://wololo.net/wagic/2010/03/13/wagic-0-11-released/

I’m excited to announce a new version of Wagic today, version 0.11.1. We added so many new cards in this version that the numbers don’t make much sense anymore, so you will see that the main menu displays now 2 numbers: the number of cards, and the number of unique cards. Wagic 0.10 had roughly 5100 cards (4000 unique), and Wagic 0.11 ships with around 30 new sets for a total of more than 9300 cards (more than 4700 unique). So if we don’t count reprints, that’s more than 700 new cards for you to play with!

Many thanks go to the team of developers, who are the soul of this project, and to the people who helped during our alpha and beta tests.

What is Wagic?

Wagic is an heroic fantasy card game (currently available for the Sony PSP, Windows, and Linux) in which you fight as a sorcerer with your creatures and spells. As you win epic battles against the CPU, you earn credits that grant you to improve your army, unlock new cards and other game modes. Wagic is open source, community driven, and extremely customizable. It is available in English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, and French.

Wagic is entirely fan-made, but is frequently compared to commercial games for its replay value and its graphics.

What’s new?
I wish I could summarize this release in a few words, but the truth is, this is once again a release packed with incredible new features. An astonishing amount of new cards of course (who stated “as usual”?), but also cool improvement such as the card filter, which (finally) grants you to tweak your shop experience, and browse your collection much more easily than before. Windows and Linux users will also love the new “key bindings” feature to be able to set-up the keys of the game to their liking. This will also be useful for PSP players who want to switch their circle and cross buttons. Here’s a more complete changelog:

More than 4000 new cards, of which 700 are unique. Wagic now has around 9400 cards (more than 4700 unique). Thanks to the card coders, especially Dr. Solomat!
New cards database system, which grants to code more cards faster and reduce the number of duplicate bugs (thanks Psyringe)
Filter system in the Shop and in the Deck Editor grant you to efficiently purchase new cards and search your collection (thanks Jeck)
Key bindings to customize your keys (thanks Jean)
Simplified translation mechanism for cards
Shop improvements (Mixed boosters, price changes, improved booster flexibility)
New parser keywords: cantBeBlockedBy, power/toughness qualifiers for targets
New tasks in the tasks menu
Internal changes to fix compilation issues on linux 64bits and Mac. Wagic should now compile for these platforms with tiny work
Added support for HQ photos on PC platforms
Attached FilesWTH0111.zip (20.64 MB)

Travel back in time a few decades and you will find the source of many modern myths. The most interesting swirl around the group of professional gamblers who devised the so-called basic strategy and those people, blessed with a good memory, that can beat the House by counting cards. Today’s wisdom says that putting the two together gives you the best chance of beating the house edge. There is some truth to this for those of you who go to real-world casinos. Indeed, many casinos actually sell small cards with the basic strategy printed in neat tables and charts. The original math wonks who crunched the numbers used to guard their knowledge and sell it only at high price. Today, the casinos effectively give it away. Why are the casinos so confident you will not break the bank?

For those of you who are serious about learning the game, sitting in front of a live dealer with the strategy cards as your reference point is a daunting prospect. You are surrounded by one-hundred-and-one distractions. You have an audience who immediately see you as a newbie and will enjoy watching you make the wrong decisions. Worse, you will play with the speed of a constipated snail. On tables with several players, there is an expected rhythm to the play. No-one wants to sit idly around while you run your finger up and down the rows and columns to decide which strategy to play given the combination of cards on display. The only place where you can “safely” learn the basic strategy is online. The animated dealer will sit patiently for minutes while you think.

Thanks to the success of the movie “21″, the exploits of the MIT team are well-known. They won millions during the 1990’s by counting the cards. Before you all rush off and start training your own team, you have to recognize the difficulty of the task. Every person has to be able to count and keep it up for hours at a time. You have to develop a system of signalling to other members of the team without the security staff noticing. Although card counting is not illegal, casinos ask counters to leave and blacklist them by sending photographs to all the other casinos. Being barred from one casino is being barred from all major casinos. This is not something you can put together in a few days. It will require months of training and planning. Even then, you are only shading the odds in your favor. You will need a bankroll. Unfortunately, this is one time the online casinos will not help you. The online backjack program uses a random number generator to determine the next card. Unlike the real-world stack of six decks where the order of the cards is fixed until the stack is emptied or changed, you cannot use counting to predict the probability of high/low cards when you play blackjack online. So all your practice will have to be in real time. Do you have that much dedication? Most do not and the majority of card counters play blackjack on their own. More importantly, they keep a very low profile to avoid detection by casino staff. That way, they can maintain a gentle accumulation of profit on their bankroll. It can be done. It just takes time, patience and skill.

More or less any place you go on the internet, you can see goods or services you want and pay for them. Most sites accept credit cards. Those that do not, deal with the other players in the banking world to make sure the funds get where they are supposed to go. This works whether you are buying clothes for your newborn baby or hard core pornography. E-commerce is the new life blood of trade. Yet, when it comes to online gambling, something dramatic happened in the US. If you are resident anywhere else in the world, all the standard methods for transferring money work with online casinos. You can open an account using a credit card and your winnings can be transferred to any bank account you nominate. But, if you are resident in the US, the world was turned on its head by the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA). The history of this is revealing.

A bill dealing with security in our ports was working its way through the legislative process and, at the last moment, the internet restrictions were added. They had nothing to do with the security of ports. It was a device to slip the law through without real debate. As a result, it suddenly became illegal for any financial institution to transfer funds to an internet gambling operation except for horse racing, online lotteries and fantasy sports. So states protected their revenue streams with lotteries and the racing industry gained an edge over all their competitors. This law is probably unconstitutional but, so far, the courts have been reluctant to give clear rulings. This leave US players with real problems. No matter where the online casino is based, it’s still difficult to open an account and recover winnings. So how do you get round the law?

The first option is to use eChecks. This produces an immediate electronic funds transfer between your bank account and the payee casino. They work in exactly the same way as paper checks. But a word of caution – one company providing this service was recently shut down by the Attorney General of New York. Although other companies continue to offer eChecks, this method is risky with winnings being seized in the New York court action. The alternatives are the following. A limited number of casinos including Rushmore accept American Express, bank drafts, wire transfers and checks for opening an account and making deposits. But these methods cannot be used for withdrawals. This brings us down to Central Coin, Citadel, Click2Pay, CLICKANDBUY, NETeller and others. Online casinos pick and choose which methods they accept. Alternatively, you have to set up a third party account outside the US and transfer the funds into and out of that account instead of directly to the casino.

It should not be this difficult to play your favorite casino games and there are various moves in the pipeline to encourage the lawmakers to repeal this oppressive law. While there’s no constitutional right to gamble as such, this law chills the banks and achieves prohibition by the backdoor. While we wait for either a definitive court ruling or Washington to act, find the online casino with the payment methods you can access and set to enjoying your favorite online casino games.

Blackjack being the most widely played table game in casinos all over the world has the lowest house edge that can be taken down even lower if employing card counting techniques. But if blackjack was a new game trying to make it to the casino tables in our days it would be very unlikely to get there. Blackjack players that use the basic strategy usually reduce the house advantage to 1,5%, which is two times less that is usually accepted in the casinos these days.

Back in 1963 Edward O Thorp, the author of Beat The Dealer, highlighted the fact that blackjack in essence could be easily beaten when using card counting and made even if the player used the basic strategy. Such revelations made a stir in the gambling world as many players jumped behind the tables with the hope to beat the game. The response of casino officials was very simple – they added more decks to the game, making car counting harder to use and apply. However, the basic strategy still gives the player a house edge of less than 1% even with more decks in the game.

But the reality is far less optimistic than most players think, as a little number of those who play blackjack devote much time to learning card counting to the extent that would allow them using the technique in a real life setting. And the number of those who actually manage to master the basic technique is even smaller. Of course, the calculated house advantage can be less than 1% but the vast majority of those who play blackjack have to deal with 2%.

Seeing how much people choose blackjack to play at both brick-and-mortar and online casinos, you may believe that the casino owners are happy with their incomes. However, the owners themselves have a different opinion. The last couple of years seem some changes introduced with the scope of maximizing the profits casinos gain from blackjack players. Some houses installed automatic shuffling machines for making the game even faster paced. Others changed the rules, increasing the house edge in general. However, some casinos on the Las Vegas Strip have introduced a change to the rules that delivered a very strong impact on the game in general.

Now, instead of 3 to 2 paid for natural blackjacks these houses require 6 to 5. This means that if with previous rules you would get $15 dollars when betting $10 a hand, now you will only get $12 for a natural blackjack. And this leads to the house edge raised by 1.4%, leaving the player who’s using the basic strategy with a 2% disadvantage.

To make things even worse, these casinos are advertising these new rules as an advantage to the player. And inexperienced players fall for such ads, not realizing that they get ripped off in comparison with typical blackjack. The best way to win at such games is to avoid them at all, as it’s not the blackjack most people can win these days. Find a casino with a 3 to 3 blackjack payout and feel the difference.

Following a report this day in British tabloid The Sun that a Wii game is currently in development based on cult sci-fi UK TV show Doctor Who, MCV have done a bit of investigating and managed to get the story confirmed, even though Koch Media, who MCV states will apparently be handling the sales and marketing of the game, declined to comment when they contacted them. However, MCV’s unnamed source has also told them that the game will be released as early as this October, and will feature the new Doctor, Matt Smith, as well as legendary Doctor Who villains such as the Daleks, Cybermen and Silurians.

News of the Doctor Who game follows a previous MCV exclusive back in January in which they revealed BBC Worldwide’s plans to get back into the games market, and specifically mentioned Doctor Who as being one of the main money-spinning franchises that BBC Worldwide was looking at licensing.

Activision Publishing has this day announced Build-A-Bear Workshop: Friendship Valley for the Nintendo Wii. In the game, which I think we can safely state is aimed at younger gamers, players can select their new ideal friend from 13 characters and decorate their Cub Condo. There are also a variety of mini-games to play in order to win medals. This what David Oxford from Activision Publishing has to state about the game:

“Visiting a real-life Build-A-Bear Workshop store is great fun for any family. We want to bring this world to life on Wii and Nintendo DS, building on the elements that made the brand so popular.”

And here’s what Maxine Clark, founder and chief executive bear (it states here!) of Build-A-Bear states about the game:

“Build a Bear Workshop: Friendship Valley encourages friendship and creativity while allowing families to share in the Build-A-Bear Workshop experience from home.”

Build-A-Bear Workshop: Friendship Valley will be released for the Wii in North America on March 23rd 2010.

Electronic Arts is one of the companies that has kept faith with Tiger Woods during his recent troubles, and they are clearly going full steam ahead with promoting Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, which is due for release on June 8th on all major consoles, including the Wii. Wii-owning golf fans will be glad to see the 11 new Wii screenshots that EA released this day at the same time as it revealed the news that The Ryder Cup will be featured in the game.

As any golf fan worth their salt knows, The Ryder Cup is a biennial tournament that takes place between teams featuring the ideal golfers in the world from the US and Europe. The game will include all the various Ryder Cup tournament formats, such as foursomes, four balls and singles. The Ryder Cup also provides the focus for the game’s cover, which will feature Tiger Woods representing the US and Rory McIlroy representing Europe. Here’s what McIlroy has to state about appearing on the cover with Woods:

“This is a large honor for me to be on the cover with Tiger Woods as I grew up idolizing Tiger. The Ryder Cup has always been my favourite sporting event and the tournament is being played at The Celtic Manor Resort in Wales in 2010. Also, I’m hopeful to have an opportunity to represent the European team later in the year – it’s all very special.”

The Wii version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 features two all-new enhanced swing mechanics that can be used in conjunction with the Wii MotionPlus. The Advanced Plus swing difficulty reads rotation and swing angle, while the Tour Pro swing mechanic assesses rotation, swing plane and point of contact, and features an innovative first-person camera angle from the tee box to the putting green called True View.

I want some Girl Scout cookies, like bad. I’ve been craving some Samoas or Thin Mints for weeks now and am suffering because it’s impossible to find Girl Scouts selling them. I don’t comprehend why they don’t have stores selling them year round, or at least let me order them off the internet. Seriously, I’d imagine their sales would explode if they had web ordering year round. I mean, what are the positives of the way they do it now? Is there a point in making me hope some young girl knocks on my door selling some cookies? Do they really think that’s the ideal option? I know they love their whole “randomly set up tables in Wal-Mart parking lots” version of Russian Roulette they play with my cookie pains, but I think it may be driving me insane. The only explanation I can come up with is that the Girl Scouts is run by a Julia Child-esque old lady who’s never heard of the world wide web and every time someone suggest on-line sales she accuses them of witchcraft and then burns them at the stake. (Side-note: Okay, let’s take the whole burning at the stake bit out of that equation and you’ve got to admit, it kinda makes sense. More importantly, it’s effing hilarious to think that’s the way it is. I can just imagine the old lady getting super pissed any time some young troop leader mentions Google or anything else that came about after the year 1965 and orders them to immediately turn in all her badges and never speak about Scouts again.)

I’ve never hid the fact that as far as game developers go, High Voltage Software has the key to my heart. The Conduit is, IMO, the ideal FPS on Wii and could easily hold its own against most of the huge boys the HDC’s could throw at it. When the company announced their four player coop shooter The Grinder, I was here hyping it up. When the company made the announcement last month that the game was now being developed for all the next-gen consoles, I stood by them like Bonnie would for Clyde. But now I’m afraid they may have gone too far. They held a private showing of the Left 4 Dead style game showing off a level for the 360 at GDC this week. No, I wasn’t there to see it and, frankly, I’m glad of it as I’m not sure I could have contained my emotions. Apparently they have decided that since the 360 & PS3 have an exorbitant amount of FPS’ for gamers to select from, they needed to make The Grinder a top-down shooter. I KNOW!!! Apparently all the love the company has had for the Wii has gone out the window thanks to the new girls and their shiny graphics. They don’t care about the big amount of Wii gamers who love and respect the company and anticipate them to be one of the companies pushing the console to its limits. (Side-note: I’m writing this in a hair salon as I’m waiting for Mrs. Mike to get finished, so let’s blame that for the melodramatic tone this paragraph has taken on…) Look, I’m not at a point right now where I feel ill will towards High Voltage, but I am disappointed. I expected The Grinder to be an amazingly fun experience and one that is unique to the Wii. Sure, it may still be unique, but I also expected them to try their ideal to deliver a FPS that would be worthy of taking the crown away from The Conduit. While the company has made no statement on the Wii version of the game, I can’t imagine them developing the FPS that we deserve at the same time as the top down abomination that they showed at GDC. Even if they have chosen not to deliver the game we originally saw, it pains me to know that they’ve done so for the sake of Sony & Microsoft fanboys. You cut me High Voltage, you cut me real deep.

I don’t want to end the week on a depressing note, even if it is raining in The A and I feel like the sun is mocking me high above the clouds. Gametrailers has some footage of the monstrosity that has become of The Grinder, but since it’s running on the 360 and I’m pretty sure I’d need a rush dose of Prozac if I put it up, I’m not going to. Follow the link if you enjoy pain and suffering and heart ache. (Side-note: I’m going for an all-time high mark on the depressing post scale, FYI. We can do it!!) While the news of HVS’ possible betrayal certainly is something to be angry about, EA is here to cheer us up. Apparently Spike (the channel not Mr. Lee) is going to have some sort of major NBA Jam blowout tonight that is sure to show the game in action. Thankfully the awesome guys at Kotaku have no patience for waiting and have posted a clip that shows 10 seconds of the game in action. I’m not even sure I have the words to describe the sheer fury of epicness that these 10 seconds hold, so I’ll just let you watch for yourself. As soon as any more videos of NBA Jam show up, you can find it here. Enjoy, and stay thirsty my friends.
