IGN: Resistance 2 Interview

During IGN’s brief hands-on with Resistance 2 they were granted a mere taste of bigger, better things to come. From what they could gather, developer Insomniac and its CEO, Ted Price, aren’t content to pull off the bare minimum, incremental update. Rather, the game is taking a larger scale, much more social, open approach to multiplayer.

IGN had a chat with Ted Price about the current state of Resistance 2; he was careful not to touch on the single-player too much – though they pressed him a couple of times anyway. He does however go into the new emphasis on squad-play in the 60 player multiplayer, as well as details on co-op, the 1950s setting and much more in this introductory interview on the anticipated PS3 shooter.

Viva Pinata 2 to use the Live Vision Camera

I member of NeoGAF has posted details about his preview of Viva Pinata, he writes - VP2 uses the Vision Camera in combination with physical cards sorta like Eye of Judgement. It basically scans a small code on the card, when it’s being held up in front of the camera, and this can both insert custom designed pinatas, unlock buildings or abilities, change the weather and many other things. We were told how Rare had designed a moose that got a big, red nose only around christmas time… and this could be passed around with these cards.

Presser Start - Kojima playing MGS4 Live right now in Japan Press Conference

Kotaku writes: "A buzzer just sounded! Literally. The lights have gone down and I’m in the dark. Good thing I have an illuminated MacBook Pro, amirite. There’s an ad for Sony phones and now Uniqlo. Just like before a movie. There’s a funny no smoking ad with MGS theme exclamation points. Hahaha, now there are a bunch of phoney MGS themed ads like for guns and stuff. Great stuff.

Watching the MGS4 opening on a huge movie screen in full Dolby Digital sound. Beautiful stuff. It starts with Old Snake wearing a hooded outfit in the back of a truck. The sound is truly amazing. The credits role as it goes from gameplay to unable. Great mix of game play and cut scenes."

GTA 4 "10/10" Reviews Rigged by Rockstar

On Playstation Nation’s weekly podcast, industry expert Andrew Yoon from the Joystiq network sheds some light on the industry practice of early exclusive game reviews. He mentions that Rockstar blacklists review sites, such a Joystiq, that give them unfavorable reviews/previews and have a direct hand in the content of the written reviews. This may explain IGN’s perfect score for the game since they had the exclusive first online review of the game. Joystiq is still blacklisted for an unfavorable preview of Liberty City Stories for PSP.

Listen at at around 10:00 minute mark for the question that garners this reponse from Yoon.

Gears of War 2: Stop Overhyping It

Steve Wysowski from XboxFocus writes:

"So many journalists have been weighing in with their personal opinions on last week’s Gears 2 exclusive that it’s hard to not crown Epic’s upcoming shooter as the pinnacle of civilized man. While by no means is it not wonderful to see an Xbox exclusive receive so much hype, I do believe some people are touting this game light years away from any sense of proportion. How long was Saturday night’s video? One and a half minutes long? Two minutes, tops? If the game is suppose to be this multi-hour epic adventure, you really think that is substantial enough footage to come up with some solid opinions?"

Bill Gates Promises Windows 7 Will Be Less of a Resource Hog

There are but scarce details pointing the direction in which Microsoft is taking the development of Windows 7, and the operating system, for that matter. Nevertheless, if Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates is to be believed, Windows 7 is going to be less of a resource hog than its predecessor, although such a comparison can only be speculated upon and was not actually stated. On May 7, 2008, one day after the Redmond company dropped Windows XP SP3 via Windows Update and the Download Center, Gates was in Tokyo, Japan, at the Windows Digital Lifestyle Consortium and he
mentioned the fact that there was a focus in making Windows 7 play well with less physical system memory.

Gametrailers staff explains GRID incident

Gametrailers staff wrote: "When we capture video from games, we capture them to tapes, the tapes are then labeled and given to the video editors to cut into videos, for instance, a ps3/360 comparison video.

Two things went wrong this time. A) the tape was mislabeled as 360 footage so the editor thought he was comparing different things, and B) our editorial check on the video didn’t go through the usual rigors, and failed to notice the mistake. When people check hundreds of videos a day, sometimes things slip through.

Obviously this is a huge issue, and we took it down as soon as we found out about it.

Never attribute to malice what you can instead attribute to a mistake. This was a simple oversight, and then spun by Kotaku into some sort of evil empire stunt.

I hope that clears things up some."
